Bruschetta recipe with Parmesan and mozzarella pinit

Would you like some fresh, vegetarian, Italian antipasti? Bruschetta tastes wonderfully fresh and is quickly prepared. Like at the Italian restaurant! Our bruschetta recipe is ideal as a starter, but can also be used as a main course. These appetizers are also great as a side dish for a barbecue or to bring to a buffet.

The toasted bread with the tomato mixture should be eaten directly after the preparation. It tastes best that way. If the topped bread slices are left for a long time, they will become soggy. In addition, tomatoes should generally not be stored in the refrigerator, as this will cause them to lose their taste.

The bread should always be topped immediately before consumption.

This dish originally comes from central and southern Italy. What started out as “poor man’s food” has evolved into a true Italian classic!

Alternatives for preparation

One option is to replace the baguette with ciabatta bread. Pecorino cheese can also be used instead of Parmesan.

The bread can also be baked in the oven without olive oil and then rubbed with a clove of garlic. In this case, it is sprinkled with oil after baking.

A pan can be used instead of the oven to toast the bread. Simply drizzle the bread with oil and toast both sides for a few minutes over medium heat.

There are numerous other bruschetta recipe variants. The most original of the recipes consisted only of toasted bread, olive oil, salt and pepper. Other alternatives are, for example, with fried zucchini and goat’s cream cheese, with fried mushrooms, with grilled peppers, with grilled eggplants or with ham! We will be happy to introduce you to more of these variants soon.
